Description

Fingal Ferguson forges this 258mm / 10.1″ chef knife at his studio in south-west Ireland, and the blade’s defining feature stops you mid-reach: a river of carbon damascus runs the full length, its organic, meandering banks cutting through the dark, matte ApexUltra core like a geological survey of something far older than the kitchen it was made for.

A full-size workhorse built for daily use, the blade performs equally in a compact home kitchen or a demanding professional one. At 60mm tall at the heel, the long flat rear section handles big chopping tasks with authority, while the upswept front and slim, needle-like tip are built for slices and detail work of every variety. Superb convex bevel geometry above a thin, hard, razor-sharp edge means the blade earns its place on the cutting board from the first cut to the last.

As the tang enters the handle, hammer marks show the blade’s hand-forged origins before disappearing into a collar of rounded carbon fiber. Between polished rings of nickel silver, the knife’s namesake material is revealed: a section of fossilized dinasaur spine bone, dating to Earth’s Cretaceous period over 93 million years ago. Its colors and markings belong to no other material. Behind it, a sculpted piece of ironwood in Fingal’s ergonomic and recognizable form, capped with his signature mosaic pin of steel, copper, and brass.

A knife named for what runs through it. One of a kind.
