Description
David is one of those rare presences in contemporary craft—goldsmith, jeweler, metalsmith—someone for whom gold and silver are simply the vocabulary he uses to speak about culture, pleasure, and rarity. From his ROGEN collection of recycled-gold, caviar-inspired jewelry, to the Sturgeon Champagne Sabre, to his work on the GoldVein Culinary project and the legendary SpaceEgg, his unique vision turns heads with each unexpected creation. The Large CaviarSavers are a perfect example. Individually poured, cast, and formed by hand in solid 925 sterling silver, the large CaviarSaver begins in the old ways: molten metal, traditional molds, and careful hand-finishing. The resulting marriage of beautiful ebony wood and solid silver forms what we might call a spoon-inspired object—ready to be used however its owner chooses for a one-of-a-kind tactile experience the lips and tongue will not soon forget, and to be admired as a conversation-sparking union of art, tool, and precious natural materials.
