Description
ike two mourning doves that couple for life, this pair of Don Carlos Andrade creations is meant to remain together—complementary in form, spirit, and purpose. Handled in presentation-grade Australian Ringed Gidgee, each grip is inlaid with vintage burgundy International Paper Co. micarta, creating a harmony of texture and tone that feels both timeless and unmistakably Andrade.
The French-inspired blades are elegant, versatile, and expertly honed. One is forged from 26c3 “Spicy White” carbon steel, its surface revealing Don’s signature “rainbow” differential heat treatment through a beautifully etched and polished finish. The other is sculpted from carbon damascus steel forged by artist Salem Straub, its patterned layers adding depth and quiet drama to the pair.
Don’s superb freehand bevel geometry ensures a balance between toughness and precision that few bladesmiths achieve—capable of chopping vegetables with authority, slicing proteins cleanly, and performing refined tip work with finesse. In the hand, each knife feels almost preordained, as if the contours were shaped not for the fingers, but from them.
A bonded pair of heirloom tools, crafted with devotion and artistry—made to be cherished, used, and admired for generations.
