Description
Forged from a billet of laddered W-pattern damascus crafted in-house at Blenheim Forge’s South London workshop, this limited-edition chef’s knife presents a refined profile designed to let the steel speak for itself. A superb convex grind is paired with a classic Western-style profile that delivers versatile, workhorse geometry for smooth, confident cutting while providing a generous canvas for the intricate, rippling layers of pattern-welded steel to unfold.
At the center of the design is Jon’s boundary-pushing skeletal handle concept. Included are two interchangeable versions—one in lightweight anodized aluminum, the other in satisfyingly weighty brass—allowing the knife’s balance and feel to be tuned to preference. A takedown tool is included for easy handle changes. While the blade itself represents a meaningful evolution to the year’s special edition build, anchored by Blenheim Forge’s bold interpretation of laddered W’s damascus, the handle system remains a defining element of the knife’s character.
The meeting point between blade and handle is where the design truly distinguishes itself. A precision-cut dovetail joint locks the two together in a connection that is both structurally robust and visually striking. Entirely mechanical, the system allows the knife to be fully dismantled for maintenance or configuration changes—no adhesives, no shortcuts—just thoughtful engineering executed with care.
Each knife is accompanied by a hand-stitched leather sheath by leatherworker Harry Owen of London, finished with a turned, solid brass pin. A fitting complement to a knife that balances experimentation, craftsmanship, and purposeful intent.
