Tracing its origins to the American frontier of the 1830s, the coffin-style handle gives this Nick Rossi chef knife an iconic look steeped in history. Deep blue maple, full of grain and character, gives the Peppermint build its name and its presence, complementing the green of the Spearmint Coffin Chef released alongside it. The tapered, faceted wood jackets a frame of white resin composite, securing the blade’s partial tang with two flush stainless pins and four hand-peened sterling silver pins — an ode to the traditional 19th-century coffin design the grip mimics.
Forged by hand from AEB-L high-performance stainless steel, cryogenically hardened with precision, the 207mm / 8.1″ blade carries an elegant two-tone finish: rough forge-finished flats above Nick’s outstanding convex bevels, hand-sanded to a silky satin. A step Nick does not often take, and which stands out beautifully in this unique build. The final edge is thin, hard, and razor-sharp, culminating at a tip built for the most demanding work. Balanced just at the 50mm heel, the knife’s 8.1oz sits naturally in the hand and moves with complete control for every cut.
