Description
A sense of refined power transfers from knife to hand in an instant. With its center of mass resting two inches ahead of the handle’s sculpted brass bolster, the tall, agile 209mm / 8.2” bunka blade is engineered to glide through ingredients, gravity guiding the razor-sharp edge with effortless exactitude cut after cut. Thin behind the edge, the medium-high convex primary bevels reveal an interplay of 80-layer damascus cladding, a luminous vein of pure nickel, and a core of darkly etched ApexUltra tungsten-carbon steel—an alloy conceived and perfected by the knife’s maker, bladesmith and metallurgist Tobias Hangler.
Above the bevels, textured flats finished by fire and anvil imbue the blade with singular character, preserving the rhythm of Tobias’s hammer blows in every ripple and shadow. Rigid and resilient across its length for the most demanding cuts, the rounded spine tapers only modestly before the bunka’s distinctive, angular front resolves into a fine, incisive tip ideal for detail work and delicate slicing.
Control comes through a gracefully sculpted handle of dyed, stabilized birch burl, its flowing grain and subtle tonal shifts bringing warmth and quiet sophistication to the hand. An object of enduring presence—crafted not merely to perform, but to captivate.
