Description
Versatile and balanced in all ways, with sharp looks to match its superb function, the Golden Mango Damascus Chef Knife is the latest work of culinary art by Detroit bladesmith Niko Nicolaides. Forged one hammer blow at a time, Niko first creates the stunning random-pattern carbon damascus steel from which he then sculpts the blade. With a 220mm / 8.6” edge, 50mm-tall heel, and an elegant, upswept profile inspired by classic German kitchen cutlery, no cut is too large or too small for this daily driver. Beneath its beautifully shaped convex bevels—honed for cutting performance and food release—lies a very thin, razor-sharp edge that sits flat near the heel for efficient chopping and narrows gracefully toward a fine, needle-like tip for precision slicing. The spine, rounded for comfort, tapers steadily forward while maintaining strength and a slight touch of flexibility in the forward inches, testament to Niko’s mastery of heat treatment and balance. A deep, dark etch reveals the damascus layering across the blade’s symmetrical bevels and forged integral handle bolster with vivid contrast. Perfectly balanced just ahead of the choil, the knife rests naturally in the hand, steady and confident on the board. A handle of richly figured purple maple, accented by a ring of golden mango, completes the composition—an expression of warmth, artistry, and performance in perfect harmony. Crafted for chefs and collectors alike, it’s a knife that inspires every time it meets the board.
