Crafted from beginning to end with the reverence reserved for only the most extraordinary chef’s knives, the Blooming Turquoise Chef is born from homemade bloomery steel gilded with pure gold, silver, and turquoise. In a furnace of mud, clay, and peat assembled at artist Silas Blacklow’s shop, a 130-year-old vise leg provided the iron; combined with carbon, a new steel took shape. That material is then forged under heat and force into the remarkable blade and integral bolster before you now.
Carved, engraved, and inlaid entirely by hand, flowers bloom beneath a full moon, their forms accented with 24k gold, 999 fine silver, and no fewer than 38 individually set turquoise inlays. A wide, polished, and rounded spine tapers steadily to a pointed tip, offering 220mm of razor-sharp edge honed beautifully for tasks across the kitchen. Stunning rosewood completes a grip that flows effortlessly—visually and tactually—through the fingers.
