Description

A handcrafted Bob Kramer chef knife is a stalwart of the kitchen: dependable, unwavering, and loyal. Over the years Kramer has earned a near-mythical reputation, producing some of the world’s most iconic culinary tools, sought after by chefs and collectors alike for their functional allure and rarity. This one-of-a-kind 8″ Euro Chef, forged at Kramer’s one-man studio in 1999 from 52100 high-carbon steel and finished by hand to a silky satin, is a striking representation of the style that has defined him.

Designed for daily cooking, the blade delivers the geometry and technical precision expected of Kramer’s work: tall, full convex symmetrical bevels slimming from a rounded spine to a thin, razor-sharp edge. Every nuance serves cutting performance, food release, reduced drag. A distal taper along the spine that runs from over 3mm above the 60mm heel to 1.8mm an inch from the tip, results in a blade that is refined yet strong, versatile enough to be ready for the demands of serious meal preparation. A meticulously hand-sanded finish gives both faces a semi-matte sheen that contrasts cleanly against the polished spine and secondary edge bevel.

The handle further sets this build apart from the Kramer knives we have had the honor of presenting before. Sculpted from red-hued amboyna burl of handsomely organic character, the ergonomic Western-inspired form is of full-tang construction, wood and brass bolsters surrounding a tang that Bob thoughtfully tapers backward to aid the knife’s exceptional balance. Two flush, polished brass pins and a single Kramer mosaic pin secure everything in his trademark style.

Kept in storage by its first and only owner, this knife has never cut or been sharpened. To ready it for this offering, it was given a full refresh by Mr. Kramer himself. The original certificate of authenticity is available, allowing the new owner to procure a Second Owner certificate from the Kramer shop. The receipt showing the date of refinishing is included as well, along with the original padded Kramer Knives case.
