Description
At 110mm, this parer sits at the longer end of the classic form, and the extra length is felt immediately. Handheld work above the board, detail cuts on the surface, the kind of precise, repetitive prep that defines a cook’s mise en place. All of it made easy with a one-of-a-kind object crafted by hand with thoughtful balance and geometry from tip to heel.
Jackson Rumble forges this knife at his one-man studio in Canberra, Australia, from his homemade half-feather high-carbon damascus in 1084 and 15n20. Etched to a high-contrast finish, the nickel-rich 15n20 jumps bright through a dark field in the pattern that has become one of Rumble’s most recognizable. The convex bevel geometry, hard thin edge, and superb heat treatment are the work of an ABS Master Bladesmith at the top of his craft. A distal taper to an extremely fine tip and a rounded spine for comfort in any grip round out a blade that performs well past its weight class.
The handle is deep blue Richlite in a traditional octagonal wa form, softened and beveled at each transition, with a single flush bronze ring where handle meets bolster. Blue and black, with one warm note.
