Description
A metallic celebration of possibility in steel, artist Joshua Prince once again surprises and delights with his vision of form in service of function. With 230mm / 9.05” of thin, hard, razor-sharp edge beneath superbly honed compound ‘S-grind’ bevel geometry, Joshua delivers a blade hand-forged from his own Steel Ribbons stainless damascus — a material as striking and cutting-edge as the knife itself. Polished and etched to a brilliant luster, the symmetrical geometry is balanced and versatile, offering strength and toughness in the rear for dense ingredients, while a full-distal taper along the spine slims to a pointed tip for effortless slicing and precision work. The lower bevels are convex beneath a pronounced concave avenue that fades gracefully toward the tip. Stiff and powerful along the spine, which begins at over 4.8mm wide, the blade feels steady and confident in the hand, balancing perfectly at the heel. Standing 63mm tall on the board with a subtly up-swept profile, there’s nothing this kitchen workhorse cannot accomplish. For comfort, control, and visual drama, Joshua sculpts the handle from dyed and stabilized birch burl, fitted with a domed faux-opal ring separating wood from steel. From the forged integral bolster that flows seamlessly into the handle, to the creation of the high-performance AEB-L + 154 CPM stainless damascus itself, Joshua cuts no corner. A one-of-a-kind heirloom for the discerning chef — a union of technical mastery and artistic expression.
