Description
Boulder artist and bladesmith Jayden Simisky forges form with function exactly as we’d want had this been a custom order. Captivating homemade damascus steel is shaped into the chef’s do-all blade, with a profile and versatility to dice for hours, julienne at speed, and slice with precision. Standing 56mm tall at the heel, the thin, razor-sharp edge rocks gracefully on the board, the flat stretch in the rear making efficient work of chopping tasks. Jayden’s outstanding freehand convex primary bevel geometry assists with food release, reducing friction and ensuring top performance. The edge then sweeps upward in the forward inches beneath a nicely rounded spine that tapers distally, resulting in a refined forward section that culminates at a fine, pointed tip built for carving and detail work. Whether powerful, controlled movements, or finesse and a delicate touch are called for, the Blackwood Vanilla Gyuto is ready.
Comfort and control come through Jayden’s traditional octagonal wa handle, lightly hued koa wood paired with a dark cut of African blackwood. Warm against cool, light against dark. A handle that complements a one-of-a-kind blade perfectly.
